LG HOUSEHOLD & HEALTH CARE SETS OFF ON A NEW CHAPTER OF #RELAYBERSAMAJIAYOU WITH THE #JOURNEYOFLIFE TOGETHER WITH PARTNER HOSPIS MALAYSIA
This initiative aims to reach out and provide relief to individuals combatting serious progressive illnesses.
Since 2019, Covid-19 has been the centrefold of health concerns worldwide. Medical facilities and services were so heavily focused on the pandemic that the needs of the many outweighed the needs of the neglected. Therefore, THE FACE SHOP is partnering with Hospis Malaysia to tackle the scarcity of basic essentials which are required by these neglected group. With the minimal effort of just purchasing your favourite skincare, THE FACE SHOP will be donating basic essentials including sanitizing kits and protective face masks to the most vulnerable through Hospis Malaysia on behalf of our customers. Together, THE FACE SHOP urges the public to join efforts and become a beacon of light to give hope and warm the hearts of these courageous souls.

What is Palliative Care?
“An approach that improves the quality of life for patients and their families facing problems associated with life-limiting illnesses, through the prevention and relief of suffering…and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual..”
-Worldwide Hospice Palliative Care Alliance, WHPCA
Founded since 1991, the journey began with one nurse and two volunteer doctors for Hospis Malaysia. Today, Hospis Malaysia provides professional communitive palliative care services and facilities to those with serious progressive illnesses such as cancer, AIDS, organ failure or progressive neurological conditions.
Even during the Covid-19 pandemic, the clinical team at Hospis Malaysia continue to strive to make a difference in the lives of patients with advanced cancer and other serious progressive illnesses, including some with post Covid-19 symptoms. Apart from supporting patients to manage their pain and other symptoms, the palliative care team will work with their patients and their families to decide on the patient’s goals of care, and facilitate conversations about what is important to the patient.
“Every year, there are more than 100,000 patients who require palliative care in our country. This is expected to exceed 200,000 by 2030. Currently however, only 10% of those in need have access to it,” said Tham Su Ming, Director, Strategy and Communications, Hospis Malaysia. The challenges face in working to develop this crucial area of healthcare is the lack of education of healthcare workers, lack of funding, and lack of public awareness of the true benefits of palliative care”
LGHNH is on a mission to speak up for the need of palliative care awareness in our country’s health care system and call for fellow Malaysians to come together. Let’s help and support each other to alleviate the burden during the pandemic, especially for families who have to continuously battle with serious progressive illnesses, by providing basic essentials that ensure healthy self-hygiene.
